Why not treat yourself to breakfast out! You are on holiday after all.

Read on to find out about our best local breakfasts, in lots of different locations.

If you discover somewhere that we haven’t yet, please let us know. We love to hear about it if you’ve found some great food.

Breakfast on the beach

Where better to enjoy breakfast when you are on holiday than on the beach – literally. Ducky’s in Beer is popular with locals and visitors alike, serves breakfast and is open all day for drinks, lunches, cream teas and ice creams. The village boasts not just one but two cafes on the beach. Chapples Beach Cafe serves take away breakfast baps and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. They are also well-known for their crab sandwiches.

The Sea Shanty Beach Cafe in Branscombe is also right by the beach and serves breakfasts from 9am, as well as pasties, a wide range of snacks and other meals, ice creams, and a large selection of drinks including local beers.

Watch the gliders

You can walk across to the gliding field, home of Devon and Somerset Gliding Club, from the park where you will find North Hill Cafe. Open on days when the gliding club is open, usually Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Their breakfasts are very good value for money and their delicious cakes are well worth the walk. You can sit and watch the gliders, and even book a trial flight.

Ice cream for breakfast!

Otter Valley Dairy – Ice Cream and Field Kitchen – just outside Honiton with views down into the Otter valley, is owned by a local farming family and they make ice cream from their own milk. They serve breakfast from 9am, pizzas made in house from 12pm and ice cream all day.

Local cafes

The Bakehouse in Cullompton uses locally sourced produce where possible and is open every day except Monday from 9.00am. They offer breakfast specials as well as more traditional options, and serve lunch and a tasty selection of cakes.  Their coffee comes from Ivybridge in Devon and they also serve locally produced soft drinks and ales.

Breakfast at the Bakehouse

At Fordmore Farm Shop you can buy locally produced ingredients to cook your own breakfast or what not just visit the cafe which is open all day from 8.30am and choose from the wide selection on their breakfast menu. They have a special breakfast menu for children too.

At the aptly named Toast Cafe and Patisserie in Honiton you eat in their cosy cafe or enjoy a summer’s morning breakfast in their sheltered courtyard. Their menu includes light lunches, delicious cakes and a full afternoon tea.

Breakfast with the donkeys

Sidmouth‘s Donkey Sanctuary has a lovely restaurant with coast and country views. Open from 9am every day breakfast is served until 11am. The breakfast menu includes everything from a full English, to something on toast, porridge and pastries. The sanctuary is free to visit and is a great day out for all the family.
