Freshwater fishing near the Blackdown Hills
There are so many freshwater fishing spots to visit in Devon, with an array of coarse fish, Atlantic salmon and specimen trout to be caught, among many more varieties.
Exeter & District Angling Club is a key angling association in the area. They control 26 miles of the surrounding Devon and Exeter waters, including rivers, canals and stillwaters. Their aim is to provide varied fishing at a low cost. They offer day tickets which can be purchased online and are ideal for those visiting Devon for a holiday!
Kia Ora
One such water that E&DAA controls is the stunning Gold Lake at Kia Ora, Cullompton – which is situated just a 17-minute drive from Forest Glade. This is one of two lakes on the complex, which is about 2 acres in size. Here, the waters a largely stocked with common and mirror carp up to 20lb. You can also find tench, roach, rudd, bream, perch and more.
Goodiford Mill Lakes
Goodiford Mill Lakes also makes for a fantastic day out. The fishery boasts 15 acres of beautiful countryside and three lakes which cater to coarse anglers. Their Specimen Carp Lake is 1.6 acres and is stocked with over 200 fish up to 30lb+. The Silver Lake is half an acre and is ideal for those targeting bream, roach and skimmers. Match Lake is the largest of the three.
South Farm
We highly recommend a fishing trip at South Farm, which is just an 8-minute drive away from Forest Glade. Their large Home Lake boasts a range of hard-fighting carp, specimen tench, silver bream, perch and roach. The grounds at South Farm are truly stunning and will make for a relaxing day with fantastic views.
Hollies Trout Farm
Hollies Trout Farm is also situated in the Blackdown Hills, just a 7-minute drive from our holiday park. Here, you’ll find some of the best trout fly fishing in Devon. There is also a smokehouse on site, where they have been producing smoked salmon and trout for more than thirty years! Sampling some of their exquisite cured fish is highly recommended!

Sambe E515 offers a range of fishing trips from the beautiful village of Beer. Captain, Kim Aplin offera 4-hour, all day and mackerel fishing trips. He is MCA qualified and has an excellent reputation in Beer and Lyme Regis, having been fishing in the region since 1980. He offers reasonably priced rod hire and has full safety equipment on board.
Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis in neighbouring Dorset is also a very popular place to go boat fishing. Here, you’ll find many providers offering varied fishing and sightseeing trips for all ages and abilities.
Lyme Bay Boat Trips
Lyme Bay Boat Trips are one of the largest operators in the area – providing both deep sea fishing, mackerel fishing and sightseeing on their boats, Neptune and Frances Jane.
