Well, it’s all go here today at Forest Glade Holiday Park in Devon as we continue to prepare the park for opening date! This part always goes very quickly and it won’t be long before we open (Our holiday park opening dates are 15 March for seasonal pitches and storage customers and 18 March for everyone else).
A new tumble dryer is being installed, the mowers are being serviced and our trusty vintage tractor, a Massey Ferguson, is doing a grand job moving gravel which is being used to tidy up holiday caravan pitches. It’s a beautiful clear sunny day, but cold and very frosty this morning.
The snowdrops are just peeping out above the grass and we’ve got some primroses out already, although I don’t think they’ll like the frost.

It’s not all work and no play. Next week we’re off to London for our annual trade association conference and some sightseeing. The conference is a really good place to meet people, network, exchange ideas, see the latest products, hear some great speakers and look forward to the season ahead. In our business, especially on a relatively small independent park, you sometimes feel a bit isolated and it’s always good to hear other park operators’ problems and solutions.
Last year we heard from George Clarke, something industry-related, and Dr Phil Hammond, hilariously funny and he did touch on camping/caravanning!
And then it’s back to work properly and the countdown to opening. Of course, we couldn’t do any of it without the help and support of our lovely staff. This year we’re welcoming back Heather and Graham for a second season, as well as several of our cleaners, and we are pleased that Sarah and Rob will be starting with us for their first season. We’ll introduce them later in February.
